“Automatic” lets the plant decide, and the label shows its choice. A setting you impose has a purple border.
The outline follows the colour of the foliage; the glow of each leaf follows the movement measured beneath it.
Web MIDI: any device the system can see, over USB or Bluetooth (paired beforehand in the system settings), as well as the virtual ports of music software.
The plant is still listened to, recognised and turned into notes; only the sound of the app falls silent, and your synthesiser takes over. Like the music, the outputs only flow in front of a recognised plant.
“Original rule”: short notes on the base channel, held notes on the next one. The slow channel, when the plant moves over the minute, can go out on its own channel. Rotation gives each note its own channel while it sounds, so that the pitch bend of a microtonal note does not detune its neighbour.
Each route reads a source, shapes it (range, curve, smoothing, inversion) and sends it on its channel: one dimension of the plant per synthesiser voice. Pitch bend and 14-bit CCs give 16,384 steps, enough to drive a pitch through a MIDI to CV module with no audible stepping; a 14-bit CC uses its number (0 to 31) and the number + 32 for the fine byte. “Note” quantises the source over a range and a scale, without going through the plant’s music. A value is only sent again when it changes.
When sent, the clock follows the plant’s steps, 24 ticks per quarter note, with Start and Stop: a sequencer or a clock module locks onto it. When received, it imposes its tempo on the music and brings it back into phase at every step; after one second without a clock, the plant takes back its own.
Semitones, cents (as soon as a value exceeds 12) or ratios, as in a Scala file; the octave is the period. The scale joins the “Scale” list of the music settings. Microtonal offsets are played by the internal sound and sent as pitch bend.
All sources stream continuously, normalised under
/plantsound/<source> and raw under
/plantsound/brut/<source>, with
/plantsound/note for each note and
/plantsound/famille. From this https page, the browser only allows ws://localhost (this computer) or an address wss://. For OSC over UDP, run the bridge on the receiving computer: node pont-osc.mjs --udp 127.0.0.1:9000.
Each source, normalised between 0 and 1 on the left, as measured on the right, before any scale, instrument or profile.
